June 16th – 23rd marks the final week of Share the Journey campaign in the United States. You can join Catholics across the nation by raising our prophetic voices to bring welcoming comfort to immigrants around the world and in our neighborhoods. Today, more than 65 million people—more refugees and internally displaced people than at any other time in history— have been forced to flee their homes and homelands because of poverty and violence. In recognition of their plight, on Thursday, June 20, nations across the globe will observe World Refugee Day.
Here’s how you can share their journey:
Encounter the stories of refugees: Their names and faces and stories remind us of our common humanity. Meet the people otherwise lost beneath headlines at our Share the Journey website.
Pray for refugees during Mass the weekend of June 23. Use our collection of prayers, videos, and Church teaching in support of those seeking a home.
Walk the walk by joining or registering a pilgrimage walk for refugees during that week. When you register you receive a free 7 foot banner!
Host an Encounter Dinner to better understand refugees’ hopes and fears while enjoying a meal together in your home or parish. These personal encounters can enrich our lives in sometimes surprising, always gratifying ways.
